Students of Sixth Semester Civil Engineering, visited Malampuzha Dam on 13th April 2018 as part of exposure to practical aspects of the course CE 302 Design of hydraulic structures. Mr.Alwyn Varghese (AP/CE) and Mrs.Indu M (AP/CE) accompanied the students.Malampuzha Dam is one of the largest reservoir in Kerala situated 10kms away from Palakkad town. At Malampuzha dam the students visited the inspection and drainage galleries along with the other hydraulic structures. The students also visited a trapezoidal shaped canal drop at Kannadi.

The workshop covered training on modeling, analyzing softwares and working with CNC-lathe machine.

A one day seminar was organized by CSE department on FOSS awareness for S4 and S6 CSE students on 28/03/18 at ASET seminar hall .The seminar was funded by ICFOSS,Trivandrum. The seminar was handled by Mr.Nived Velyudhan(Red hat expert) of IPSR solutions,Ernakulam.The seminar started off at 10.15 am with a formal introduction about FOSS(free and open source software) and its relevance in the present times.The MoU exchange event was formally started by Mr.Dhanesh S(Asst.Professor/ME) and was addressed by Dr.Krishna Kumar Kishor , Dr.P.Sankarankutty,Dr.B.G Vishnuram, Mr.E.P.B Rajithan ,Dr.Ramesh Kumar R and Mr.Nived Velayudhan. The MoU with red hat academy was exchanged by ASET Principal (Dr.B.G.Vishnuram) and IPSR representative(Mr.Nived Velayudhan) from the Director's cabin at 12.45 pm in the esteemed presence of the dignitaries.
The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, in association with IETE Palakkad center, organized a two day workshop on Design of Low Power VLSI Circuits using EDA tool on 26th and 27th of February 2018. Mr. Kavin Kumar M and Mr. Gavaskar, Assistant professor of Kongu Engineering College, Erode, were the resource persons. On the first day, a brief introduction was given on Tanner EDA tool for designing low power VLSI circuits. The second day session concentrated on delay and power analysis of CMOS logic circuits. The students received hands-on training on various CMOS logic designs with the help of this tool.
The fourth semester students (2017-2018) of Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology visited BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited), Palakkad on 24.02.2018. The students were able to understand the various ports and wires present inside the MDF and came to know how each port connects to a subscriber's unique number and also about the data distribution according to the customer's need inside the ADSL room. Students got a clear demonstration about the connection of mobile phone calls and how faults in telephone connections are checked using the software. The industrial visit provided an insight on how BSNL works and also information related to the practical aspects.
A workshop has been conducted by CSE department on HTML5 for S2 and S4 CSE students on 19/01/18 and 20/01/18 at computer lab 1.The workshop was handled by the resource persons Mr.Abdul Wahab (business development manager - Redleaf ,Coimbatore) and Mr. Karthik Raj(Trainer-Redleaf ,Coimbatore).Students were made to develop HTML5 based web pages after they were familiarized with the HTML5 tool.
The Kerala Govt.Life Mission Project under tribal extension office, Chittur , associated with final year civil engineering students of ASET in doing a project. This project is very useful for tribal extension office, Chittur to create accurate data / amount by doing quantity survey of buildings in that area. Total number of surveyed residential buildings in this project is 338 houses that belongs to four different panjayaths- Perumatti, Eruthienpathy, Vadakarapathy and Kozhinjampara. This data helps to provide accurate amount which needs to finish each house under Life mission project.
Maiden alumni meet 2017 was held at ASET seminar hall on 16 Dec 2017. The Principal, Dr B G Vishnuram welcomed the alumni of batch 2016 and 2017. The Director , Dr P Sankarankutty , addressed the gathering and briefed the process of forming Alumni Association at ASET. An ad hoc Alumni committee was formed for Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology.
S4 students and S8 students of ECE department visited Ahalia campus. Students got a chance to know more about various institutions of Ahalia Health Heritage and Knowledge Village (AHHKV). First, they visited Ahalia 90.4 FM, and learned practical applications of frequency modulation techniques and the wireless transmission methods. Then they visited Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College and Ahalia eco-farm. They also visited Ahalia Heritage village, located inside the campus. The campus visit was a new experience for the students.
Aparna A, Archana N S, Jeeshma Rajan, Megha kalyan P M and Sruthi D of third semester Electronics and Communication Engineering department of Ahalia school of Engineering and Technology Palakkad have attended a workshop on 28th and 29th of October 2017 on the topic Sixth Sense Robotics, conducted by IIT Hyderabad and Entrench Electronics, at College Of Engineering Trivandrum. The students were provided with a kit containing essential components for the line follower robot. Students were greatly benefited with the basics of Electronics, Atmel studio programming, basics of Robotics using Arduino, Matlab and Python Programming with adequate hands on training
The Civil Engineering Department of Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology had organized a one day workshop on 25.10.2017 on Civil Engineering application softwares such as Estima, Epanet, 3d Max and Revit. The workshop was conducted by CADD center, Palakkad. The students of seventh and fifth semester has attended the workshop and gained thorough knowledge on these softwares.
The students of S3 ECE of Ahalia school of Engineering and Technology visited Indian Telecom Industries Limited Kanjikode on 21.10.2017. At first, the students have visited the PCB manufacturing plant and they were introduced to various processes, materials and machineries involved in manufacture of a PCB. The students understood the different processes like drilling, laminating, U-V shining, electroplating etc. After that, they visited the components placing plant, here they were introduced to the latest innovation in components mounting, Surface mount technology (SMT). The guide gave a brief introduction on SMT and its importance in the modern technologies and demonstrated its working. .
The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Ahalia school of Engineering and Technology organized an industrial visit for students of S5 ECE to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL), Palakkad on 12th October 2017. During the visit, the students were given an overview about the telephone exchange of BSNL and Main Distribution Frame (MDF). The Network Engineers of BSNL demonstrated the MDF 'interconnects' and telecommunication wiring.
Mr. Jithin P, student of Mechanical Engineering (2012-2016 batch) have qualified in GATE 2017 with a score of 750. Joined IIT Bombay for MTech in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. Shortlisted by BPCL and IOCL (PSUs) based on GATE score. After clearing GD, Technical Interview and HR interview, got selected as Management Trainee in BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited) in July 2017. Currently Undergoing training at Mumbai.
National Service Scheme Technical Cell Unit of Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology has organized a Legal Literacy Class in the campus in Association with Kerala State Legal Services Authority on 5th August 2017. The program was inaugurated by Ms. K.P.Indira , District Judge, Palakkad. Shri. Thuhsar.M, Sub Judge, Palakkad, delivered the welcome speech.
The department of mechanical engineering had organized a two day faculty development program on Composite materials on 27th and 28th July 2017.The main aim of this Faculty Development Programme was to impart the latest inputs and knowledge about Composite Materials. The program was attended by various teaching faculties and post Graduate students for their research work in the field of composites. Researchers from various research organizations also participated in the event.
A talk on Kerala municipality building rule was organized by Civil Engineering department on Saturday, 15th July 2017 at Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology (ASET), Palakkad as a part of skill development programme. Dr.B.G Vishnuram, Principal, ASET welcomed the participants and introduced the programme to all. He also made a talk on the awareness of kerala municipality rules. The session was chaired by Er.Smitha M, Assistant Engineer; LSGD Palakkad.
The department of Civil Engineering had organized a seminar on Energy reduction strategies in India,on 14th july 2017. The occasion was graced with the presence of Dr.B.G Vishnuram, Principal, ASET, who gave a speech on the programme. The session was handled by Dr. E K Kunhanandhan Nambiar,former professor, NSS College of Engineering . The session was very informative and helped to identify the over utilization of energy in various construction activities.
ASET in association with The Malayala Manorama organized "PRATHIBHA SANGAMAM" to honor the plus 2 toppers in kerala state board and CBSE. More than 1000 students from various school in palakkad was honored at the event held at Ahalia Auditorium. The occasion was graced with the presence of Ottapalam sub collector Mr.P.B Noor, who emphasized the need for dedication and hardwork for success in building a career.
The official Inauguration of Entrepreneurship Development Club was done by Mr. George Kulangara , Founder Chairman Labour India Group on 17/03/17. The session commenced with a prayer followed by Welcome Address by Dr.B.G Vishnuram, Principal, ASET.Felicitation was done by Dr.Krishna Kumar Kishor, Assistant Director Academics. A Session on Life Skills Training was given by the chief Guest.
The department of ECE of ASET conducted a two day workshop on NI LabView on 3rd and 4th of March 2017. Students of ECE and EEE departments attended the workshop. This function was aimed at providing a common platform for the Students to explore the usage of Virtual Instrumentation and Design aspects using simulation with the help of NI LABVIEW. It helped the participants to build real-time projects exploiting the benefit of these software tools.
On behalf of National Science Day Celebrations, Dept. of S&H and Nature Club organized PRAKRITHI-2017 on 21/02/2017. Dr.V.S. Ramachandran , Asst. Coders Club under Department of Computer Science of Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology has conducted a One day Workshop in JAVA Programming on 18.2.2017 (Saturday). The Workshop was led by Mr. Siva Shankar.S ,Asst. Profesor/CSE. 50 students from various departments participated in the workshop.
The first ever Calicut University C Zone football tournament was held at ASET sports ground from 21st October to 2nd November 2016. 39 teams of various arts and science colleges, professional colleges participated in the event and final was played between SN college, Shoranur and VTB Sreekrishnapuram.
Industrial training for final year mechanical students in heating ventilating and air conditioning, the technology used for providing desired ambiance for industrial and general applications, was provided at ASET by the experts from the Industry. Mr.Dilli Babu, recruitment head from Haier appliances inaugurated the industrial training with a pre placement talk.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology, organized a training programming on Webench on 26th August 2016. Department of Mechanical Engineering, in Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology organized a five-day workshop on AutoCAD in collaboration with Ahalia Alternate Fuel Pvt Ltd and Ahalia Medical Manufacturing Unit during 18.7.2016 to 22.7.2016. About 42 students from the third semester of Mechanical engineering participated in the program and it was coordinated by Mr.Anil M and Mr.Sumanlal M (Assistant Professor/ ME).

The primary objective of the session was to provide an exposure for 3rd year mechanical engineering students about the infinite possibilities of GATE exam, for doing master degree as well as for jobs.
