Coders Club under Department of Computer Science of Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology has conducted a One day Workshop in JAVA Programming on 18.2.2017 (Saturday). The Workshop was led by Mr. Siva Shankar.S ,Asst. Profesor/CSE. 50 students from various departments participated in the workshop.

Seminar on Cyber Security

A one day seminar on “Cyber Security” was organised on 23rd February 2016, Tuesday, from 10a.m. to 3.45p.m in association with Computer Society of India. The session was led by Mr.Sanoop R, L2 support for REDHAT CCNA and CEH at Maze net Solutions Palakkad. Ms.Akhila S. Student Member CSI proposed the welcome address.

The department of computer science Engineering in Ahalia school of engineering and technology organized a seminar on professional ethics and values as a part of association(neophytes)event on 4th February 2016.The chief guest was Dr.K.Kannan, retired professor of Amritauniversity, Coimbatore.

Industrial Visit of S3 Students

The department of CSE organized two days industrial visit to KAYNES Technology Mysore from 11/9/2015 to 12/9/2015 for S3 CSE students. During the visit students observed the entire bandwidth of Electronic Manufacturing Services starting from Design Services thru Prototyping, Sourcing, Turnkey manufacturing and Support Services. The students visited End- to- End Solutions such as field of IT Peripherals, Industrial Controls, Telecom, Energy, Medical Electronics, Defense Electronics to leading Companies such as Analog Devices Inc., USA, Ansaldo Signal group of companies in USA/Europe, TVS Electronics Ltd., WIPRO, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., to name a few in the domestic market.

         The department of computer science and engineering at the Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology, Palakkad was formed in the year 2012 in the time of the starting of engineering college and provides an outstanding academic environment complimented by excellence in teaching. The department offers B. Tech degree. The department has a comprehensive syllabus on topics covering all the aspects of computer hardware and software with an emphasis on practical learning. The course structure includes courses on nascent topics to equip our students with the latest developments in computer science and engineering.

The mission of CSE department is to provide education for students to help them meet the international competition and produce creative solutions for the societys needs.

To practice effective and workable teaching learning methodologies that would ensure the production of qualitative graduates and also help the students achieve proficiency in the specified curriculum.

To introduce the students to the latest advancements in the field of computer science and engineering through various workshops and seminars.

To establish a comprehensive understanding of interdisciplinary engineering through interdisciplinary research and projects.

Programme Educational Objectives

The main Objective of the department is to provide extensive knowledge and a substantial foundation in mathematics, engineering, basic science and fundamentals to the students that would help them to solve computing problems and also to motivate them towards research which servers our nation.

In addition to helping the students achieve proficiency in the curriculum specified by the University of Calicut/ Kerala Technological University, the department also aims at introducing the students to the latest advancements in the field of computer science and engineering.

To train the students for their careers in various sectors and also to introduce them to entrepreneurship.

To establish a comprehensive understanding of interdisciplinary engineering.

The department is associated with professional technical associations and societies such as IEEE and IETE, which allow the students to improve and update their technical knowledge and personality development. Prof. Anjana J. G. is the IETE staff in-charge of CIVIL department.

IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE's highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.

IETE

The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is India's leading recognised professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication & IT. Founded in 1953, it serves more than 60,000 members through various centres, whose number is 65, spread all over India and abroad. The Institution provides leadership in Scientific and Technical areas of direct importance to the national development and economy. Government of India has recognised IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and also notified as an educational Institution of national eminence. The objectives of IETE focus on advancing electro-technology. The IETE conducts and sponsors technical meetings, conferences, symposia, and exhibitions all over India, publishes technical journals and provides continuing education as well as career advancement opportunities to its members.

CSI

CSI student chapter launching was conducted at ASET on 08/08/2014. The Chief Guest of the function, Prof. Prashanth R.Nair, Regional Student Coordinator- Computer Society of India, Vice-chairman-CSE Division, IEEE Education Society, Treasurer, IETE, TN Region, Vice-chairman, Department of Information Technology Amrita University, Coimbatore, announced the ASET as the institutional member of CSI. Mission The mission of CSI is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning and career enhancement for all categories of IT Professionals, while simultaneously inspiring and nurturing new entrants into the industry and helping them to integrate into the IT community. Vision Keeping in mind the interest of the IT professionals & computer users, CSI works towards, making the profession an area of choice amongst all sections of the society. The promotion of Information Technology as a profession is the top priority of CSI today. To fulfill this objective, the CSI regularly organizes conferences, conventions, lectures and gives various awards. And at the same time it also ensures that regular training and skill updating are organised for the IT professionals.

Computer lab-I


     The primary purpose of computer lab resources is for academic research, study, and class assignments. Computerscience department in the college has its own computer labs with faster internet access facility for providing the students with greater opportunities to hone their particular talents and knowledge- skills, helping them to remainupdated on emerging trends and technologies. Computing Laboratory facilities are utilized for the conductance of basic Programming Course, Object Oriented Programming, Data Structures and Algorithm Development etc

     The department concentrates on upgrading its facilities by including the state-of-art technology in hardware and software available within the country and abroad. Students get the best computer setup which includes different Operating systems, Computer Networking, Multi-OS-Access, and Multimedia Setup with GUI, software packages like Matlab etc. as well as emerging high level languages. The Network laboratories enable students to do their network projects on real world problems. Use of the lab is restricted to the current students, faculty, and staff. Lab Attendants will request a University ID upon entering each lab.

Seminar on Python


The department of computer science Engineering in Ahalia school of engineering and technology organized a two days’ workshop on “PYTHON” as a part of association (NEOPHYTES) event on 8th & 9th March 2016.The chief guest was Mr.Prithivi Raj, Technical lead, ATS,Coimbatore. It was organized for S8 & S4 students to explore the power and simplicity of python language. This workshop was appreciated by the all students, as they were able to add another programming language in their technical skill set. The trainer Mr.Prithivi Raj has given mix of theory and practical knowledge. He explained about control flows, showed some examples and asked participants to solve some problems. Later he explained about user defined functions,inbuilt functions, OOP’s concepts and GUI design. Entire workshop was very interactive with lots of interesting questions from participants and speaker explanation about them. Susmitha.U(S6 CSE) delivered the welcome address and Prof.RameshKumar.R,HOD of computer Science, felicitated the function. Prof.SreeragB.M, staff coordinator CSE,co-ordinated the function.CSE students of 2nd,3rd,4th year attended the progamme. Finally AkhilaS(s8 CSE) proposed the vote of thanks.

Seminar on Big Data


The department of Computer Science and Engineering in Ahalia school of engineering and technology organized a seminar on BIG DATA as a part of association (neophytes) event on 5th March 2016. The chief guest was Mr. M SurendraBabu , Technical lead, HCL. The chief guest gave a brief introduction on Big Data and on Hadoop. The first session mainly emphasized the concept of Big Data. He talked on the relevance of Big data in the current scenario. Then the limitations of the currently used technologies were discussed. Further, how Big Data overcomes the latter was told. Later on, in the second session the focus was mainly on the emerging areaHadoop. A detailed explanation on Hadoopecosysytem and its architecture were given. The working of Hadoop was also discuused. The session was concluded with a brief talk on HDFS. Susmitha.U(S6 CSE) and SilpaMariya Dias(S6 CSE) delivered the welcome address and Prof.Ramesh Kumar ,HOD of computer Science, felicitated the function.Prof.Sreerag B.M, staff coordinator CSE,co-ordinated the function.CSE students of 2nd,3rd,4th year attended the progamme.Finally Harsha(s6 CSE) proposed the vote of thanks.

He also spoke about moral behavior and ethical practices that the engineering and IT professionals should follow in their work andlife. He went on to talk about the code of ethics that professionals need to adhere to when they face immoral and unethical behavior from their colleagues. He encouraged students to be more innovative in whatever they do and also explained the importance of time management through some stories to become a successful engineer.
Akhila S(s8 CSE) delivered the welcome address and Prof.Ramesh Kumar ,HOD of computer Science felicitated the function.Prof.Sreerag, Staff coordinator co-ordinate the function.CSE students of 2nd,3rd,4th year attended the progamme.Finally Harsha(s6 CSE) propose the vote of thanks.

Inauguration of Computer Science and Engineering Association


The inauguration of Computer Science and Engineering Association NEOPHYTES and CSI student chapter launching was conducted at ASET on 09/09/2015. The Chief Guest of the function, Prof.PrashanthR.Nair,Regional Student Coordinator- Computer Society of India,Vice-chairman-CSE Division, IEEE Education Society, Treasurer, IETE, TN Region, Vice-chairman, Department of Information TechnologyAmrita University, Coimbatore, inaugurated the CSE association NEOPHYTES and also announced the ASET as the institutional member of CSI. Prof. Nair began by talking about the history and formation of CSI.In his speech,he emphasized the importance of CSI chapter and its activities.He encouraged the students to be a part of association and CSI and conceive innovative ideas and do innovative projects. He also briefed the gathering about various prestigious awards and certifications provided by CSI which could be achieved by the students as well as the institution. Prof Nair was kind enough to inspire the students to excel in job interviews using the mantra KASOC ( Knowledge , Aptitude , Skill & Other Characteristics). He encouraged the students to think creatively and highlighted the necessity of creativity in emerging trends of engineering. He also stressed that the students should improve communication skill and Soft skill. His words of wisdom and advices were welcomed by the students as well as the faculty..

The Rank holders for Third semester examination Mr.Dipu R.(First), Ms.Javishna(Second),and The Rank holders for Fifth Semester University examination Mr.Vivek.R(First), Kripa.K(second) had been given the Certificate of Academic Excellence by the Chief Guest. The HOD/CSE,ASET presented a memento to the Chief Guest and presented the prizes for Extra Curricular and Co-curricular activities winners.



Afternoon Session

In the afternoon session a technical exhibition was held. Various technical games were conducted in which all the students took active participation. The day finally came to an end by promising more such programs from the association.Mr.K.AnsariZeeshan student secretary proposed the vote of thanks. We thank our Manangement, Dr.Krishna Kumar Kishore, Director and Principal In-Charge for giving the opportunity and greater support for making the function grant success.
