B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2014-18)

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology, Palakkad was established right from the inception of the college, since July 2012. The department offers B.Tech Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to University of Calicut and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Kerala Technological University, Trivandrum. Electrical Engineering forms the application of the laws of Physics governing electricity, magnetism, and light to develop new technologies in helping mankind. The Electrical Engineering discipline has its esoteric side, with electrical engineers being involved in the generation, protection, transmission, distribution and application of electrical energy. However, on the mundane side, they are also involved in that aspect that lights our world. Many scientific fields depend on electrical engineers for their design, analysis and maintenance. Engineers who specialize in Electrical and Electronics engineering are concerned with the design and analysis of controllers, power converters that eventually help in obtaining the desired characteristics of electromechanical systems. Today, Electrical engineering has a wide reach in all spheres of technology.


To produce Electrical graduates with capabilities of Academic, Technical and Professional competences. Also, to nurture Engineers in emerging fields of researches and aspiring entrepreneurs to build a better world for future. .


The goal of the department is to create engineers of high technical skills in the Electrical & Electronics Engineering field suitable for being budding entrepreneurs along with the quality to be employed in reputed firms and for pursuing higher studies along with R&D to improve the quality of present power scenario as well as the society. The department caters to the ever increasing needs of technical brilliance in all areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering such as integrated Electronics and Circuits, Electrical Machines, Control & Automation, Power Systems & Power Electronics. A comprehensive syllabus is being followed to cater to the needs of industry and academia, with more emphasis on practical applications and training.

To groom the budding professionals with the confidence to excel in the new wave of a Knowledge Based economy.

To develop individual student into competent professional capable of encountering challenges in the fast changing world.

To motivate the students to pursue higher education with innovative Research and Development Projects through the Centre for Research & Industrial Collaboration established by ASET along with Ahalia International Foundation to enable R&D activities at Ahalia campus.

To attain 100% placement through campus interviews.

To provide students with a solid foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals required to solve engineering problems and also to pursue higher studies.

To train students with good scientific and engineering breadth so as to comprehend, analyze, design, and create novel products and solutions for the real life problems.

To inculcate in students professional and ethical attitude, effective communication skills, teamwork skills, multidisciplinary approach, and an ability to relate engineering issues to broader social context.

The department is associated with professional technical associations and societies such as IEEE and IETE, which allow the students to improve and update their technical knowledge and personality development.


IEEE is the worlds largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE's highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.


The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is Indias leading recognised professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication & IT. Founded in 1953, it serves more than 60,000 members through various centres, whose number is 65, spread all over India and abroad. The Institution provides leadership in Scientific and Technical areas of direct importance to the national development and economy. Government of India has recognised IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and also notified as an educational Institution of national eminence. The objectives of IETE focus on advancing electro-technology. The IETE conducts and sponsors technical meetings, conferences, symposia, and exhibitions all over India, publishes technical journals and provides continuing education as well as career advancement opportunities to its members.

The department of Electrical and Electronics engineering has a wide range of specialized laboratories with latest equipment for teaching and research. Laboratories provide an environment for students to apply their understanding of the fundamental concepts

Electrical Machines Lab

The Electrical Machine Laboratory includes experiments on characteristics and behavior of the DC and AC Machines, efficiency test of transformers, synchronous and asynchronous machines and give them experimental skill, familiarize with the constructional details of different types, working principle and their performance. This lab consists of machines such as DC machine, induction motor, induction generator, alternators, synchronous motors etc. Well established with all kinds of motors, generators and latest drives, this is the core lab for the Electrical Engineering branch and the ancillary for ECE and Mechanical branches

Measurements and Instrumentation Lab

Measurements and Instrumentation Lab works in the area of measurements, sensors & signal conditioning and power system instrumentation. The laboratory is housed with various equipment like AC Bridges, DC Bridges, Instrumentation amplifier, Angular measurement module, Pressure measurement module, Displacement measurement module, Energy meter, CROs, Regulated power supply etc. This Lab provides a firm knowledge base in modern areas such as sensor mechanisms, data compression, and specialized opto-electronic sensor systems.

This laboratory is used to impart practical knowledge to the students about the different wiring schemes, familiarization of megger ,MCB and ELCB. This workshop is established with the basic tools, trainer kits and accessories. The workshop is very imperative not only for the students of Electrical Engineering branch but also for the students of other engineering branches and provides service to all 1st year students.

Advanced Electrical Engineering Lab

Advanced Electrical Engineering Lab

The aim of the laboratory is to provide sound knowledge in the basic concepts of linear control theory and design of control system, to understand the methods of representation of systems and getting their transfer function models, to provide adequate knowledge in the time response of systems and steady state error analysis, to give basic knowledge in obtaining the open loop and closed loop frequency responses of systems and to understand the concept of stability of control system and methods of stability analysis. It help students to study the compensation design for a control system.The design and implementation of control theory is done using MATLAB software to work out the experiments for open loop and closed loop systems. The lab is well furnished with MATLAB & PSPICE softwares, AC & DC servomotors, synchros, LVDT etc. to conduct various experiments for the EEE students.

Power Electronics Lab

Power Electronics Lab

The objective of the Power Electronics laboratory is to study the characteristics of switching devices and its applications in rectifier, inverter and choppers. It also acquaint with the application of electronic devices for conversion, control & conditioning of electric power. Further it aids the students to acquire an overview of different types of power semi-conductor devices and to cognize the operation, characteristics and performance parameters of controlled rectifiers, to study the operation, switching techniques, modulation techniques of PWM inverters and to comprehend the harmonic reduction techniques.

Texas Instrument(TI) Innovation Lab

The Department of Electrical and Electronics established the Texas Innovation lab in collaboration with STEPS Knowledge services Pvt.Ltd, Coimbatore. The lab is highly equipped with analog system lab starter kit(ASLK PRO) MSP 430 controllers,TIVA-EK launch pad and other sensors including ultrasonic sensor, PIR sensor, along with Arduino, Raspberry Pi boards.

Project Competition

Aswin Sooraj R, Harikrishnan M, Adhith J, Mahesh C from second year EEE were Quarterfinalist who submitted a proposal entitled “Car Blackbox” to DST & Texas Instruments India Innovation Challenge Design Contest 2016, Anchored by IIM Bangalore.

The Project titled “PADATRANA” by Alexa Jose, Aravind M, M Vishnu Murali and Reshma R of final year EEE was awarded financial assistance during 60th Project Committee Meeting of KSCSTE (Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment ) under the guidance of Dr. G Murugananth, HoD/ EEE

The Project titled “Sign Language Interpretation for deaf and dumb" by Sreeparvathy V and group of final year EEE was awarded financial assistance during 60th Project Committee Meeting of KSCSTE (Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment ) under the guidance of Dr. G Murugananth, HoD/ EEE and Mr. A Manickavasagam, AP/EEE.

One of our final year students project was selected in the first round of project competition by National Instruments. The project titled MEGOBOT which is a GSM controlled robotic system for monitoring health parameters like temperature,blood pressure and heart beat.

Yoga Championship

Haritha H Das of IInd year EEE won the district level yoga championship conducted by Palakkad district yoga association.

Inauguration of EEE Association -ILLUMINATI 2017

      The inaugural ceremony of EEE Department Association was organized on 15-09- 2017.The session commenced with a prayer song and the welcome address was given by final year EEE student, Haritha Suresh. The Department Association was officially inaugurated by the Chief guest Dr. S Kalirajan, Head Special Initiative, Nuclear–L&T Corporation, Chennai, and the other dignitaries, Dr.B.G.Vishnuram (Principal ASET) ,Dr.G Murugananth( HoD/EEE), Dr Jino John(HoD/CE), Asst. Prof A Manickavasagam (AP/EEE). Dr.B.G.Vishnuram, Principal, ASET presided over the function. Dr. S Kalirajan, Chief Guest inaugurated the association and delivered the inaugural address. In his address he detailed the benefits of nuclear energy resources and the need for nuclear power plants. He also wished the office bearer of the association of EEE to have a great year ahead by organizing various technical events and to enrich the knowledge of the students. Akshaya K (S7 CE) proposed the vote of thanks. As a token of gratitude the chief guest was honoured by our principal by presenting a Memento.
