A group of six members from the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering of Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology visited an Areca Nut Leaf Plate Manufacturing Unit,Aranya Bioplates & Products, located at Vallanghi, Palakkad District, as part of the institution’s Academia–Industry Interaction initiative.
The visit provided valuable insights into the sustainable production process of converting naturally fallen areca nut leaves into eco-friendly disposable plates. The team had the opportunity to observe the machinery, production workflow, quality control measures, and business model adopted by the unit. Notably, the unit is operated primarily by women workers, promoting local employment and women’s empowerment in rural communities.
