The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering successfully conducted an industrial visit to Malabar Cements Limited, Walayar, Palakkad, on 22-10-2026. The visit was accompanied by Assistant Professors Ms. Vijitha Khan and teaching assistant Mr. Sreejesh R Nath.
During the visit, students gained practical exposure to industrial automation and control systems used in cement manufacturing. They learned about Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and Siemens software, understanding their applications in monitoring and controlling industrial processes.
The students also explored the saw mill and cement packing sections, gaining insights into the various stages of cement production. In addition, they learned about the importance of raw materials such as limestone, laterite, and silica in cement manufacturing.
The visit provided valuable practical knowledge of industrial automation, instrumentation, and process control. It helped students connect theoretical concepts from electronics and communication engineering with their real-world applications in the cement industry.
