AIML Department Association – ASTHRA

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology (ASET) organized the inauguration of its student association, ASTHRA, on 15th September 2025 at Visvesvaraya Hall, ASET Campus. The association was formed to provide a platform for students and faculty to collaborate, innovate, and grow together in the rapidly advancing fields of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

The program commenced with a prayer song by Ms. Aksharaa D, followed by a welcome address from Mrs. Reshma P. K, Assistant Professor & Association Coordinator, AIML, who emphasized the importance of ASTHRA in nurturing student talent and promoting academic growth.

In his Presidential Address, Dr. P. R. Suresh, Principal of ASET, highlighted the relevance of AI and ML in today’s technological landscape and encouraged students to actively engage in research and innovation. This was followed by a felicitation address by Mr. Sunder V, Head of AIML, who also introduced the office bearers of the association. Dr. Rajeev N, Dean of Academics, ASET, addressed the gathering and underlined the need for interdisciplinary collaboration.

The highlight of the event was the Inaugural Address delivered by Dr. K. P. Soman, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore. He inspired the students with his insights on recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence and encouraged them to pursue research and innovation in this field. The official ASTHRA logo was also released on this occasion.

Ms. Hiba Fathima M, President of ASTHRA, presented a briefing on the association’s vision and planned activities, while Mr. Vithul M, Secretary of ASTHRA, proposed the vote of thanks.

As part of the inauguration, two interactive student activities were conducted:

  • Quiz Competition on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
  • Themed Treasure Hunt incorporating AI/ML concepts.

Both activities received enthusiastic participation, adding vibrancy to the program and fostering teamwork, knowledge sharing, and enthusiasm among students.

The event concluded successfully, marking a memorable beginning for ASTHRA. The inauguration laid a strong foundation for future activities, reflecting the department’s commitment to creating a culture of learning, innovation, and professional growth.
