Quantum Computing: Algorithms and Practicality

On the 12th of January 2026, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ahalia School of Engineering, organized a guest lecture titled “Quantum Computing: Algorithms and Practicality”, delivered by Mr. Ravishankar Ashok Kumar, Researcher and Software Engineer at
QuTech, Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. The session commenced at 11:00 AM.
Mr. Ravishankar shared his academic and professional journey from his graduation at TKM College of Engineering to his current research in quantum computing at QuTech, University of Delft, offering valuable insights into building a research-driven career.
The lecture covered fundamental concepts of quantum computing, algorithms, and their practical limitations, along with current developments and future prospects of the field. The speaker also cautioned students about the hype surrounding emerging technologies, encouraging a balanced and realistic approach. A 45-minute interactive session followed the talk, during which students clarified doubts related to quantum computing, computer science, and higher education opportunities in quantum computing in Europe. The session concluded at 1:00 PM, marking a meaningful and engaging academic interaction.
