UBA Orientation Program

Overview

The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell of Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology organized an Orientation Programme on “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA)” on 7th November 2025 (Friday) at the Design and Analysis Laboratory. The objective of the programme was to familiarize faculty members and students with the vision, mission, and activities of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and to encourage their participation in community-oriented projects.

The session was handled by Mr. Prabhulladas R, Project Coordinator, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Regional Coordinating Institute – IIT Palakkad.

Programme Proceedings

The programme began with a silent prayer, followed by a Welcome Address by Mr.Rohith M, Co-Coordinator, UBA Cell. The event was presided over and formally inaugurated by Dr. Suresh P. R, Principal, Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology.      Dr. Rajeev N, Dean Academics, delivered the felicitation address, commending the UBA Cell for promoting initiatives that connect engineering education with societal development.

The Orientation Session was then conducted by Mr. Prabhulladas R, who gave an insightful presentation on the objectives, structure, and implementation strategies of UBA. He also explained how higher educational institutions can effectively collaborate with local panchayats to drive rural progress through technology-based interventions.

In the absence of Ms. Preeja V, UBA Staff Member, who was on leave, the Report on Previous Year’s Activities was presented by Mr. Sadanandan R, PI Coordinator, UBA Cell. He also outlined the future activities and action plan of the UBA Cell and delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries and participants.

Participants

The programme was attended by UBA Staff Members, selected first-year students, and five students from higher semesters who are part of the UBA Student Council. Their presence added valuable perspective to the discussions and future planning of UBA initiatives.

Student Interaction

Following the formal session, an interactive discussion was held where students actively engaged with the resource person, raising thoughtful and socially relevant questions such as:

  1. Is this a collaboration between higher education institutions and panchayats?
  2. How can we overcome the negligence of panchayats in implementing development projects?
  3. Can projects be focused on water scarcity prevention?
  4. Can technology-based initiatives be developed to help mentally challenged people?
  5. Can projects be designed to empower the education of students from rural areas?

Mr. Prabhulladas R appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and provided detailed responses, emphasizing the importance of innovative, community-based engineering solutions.

Conclusion

The Orientation Programme served as an excellent platform to enhance awareness about the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and its implementation framework. It inspired students and faculty members alike to actively contribute toward rural development, sustainability, and social transformation.
