Six students representing TinkerHub ASET Prajwal Praveen, Suman Jabin, Anand M, Adarsh M, Adhil Mohammad S and Sneha S accompanied by AI/ML Teaching Assistant Mr. Deepak, attended Open Source India (OSI) 2026 on October 7 at the NIMHANS Convention Centre in Bengaluru to gather the insights needed to kick-start open-source projects and build a vibrant local tech community in Ahalia. To support this mission, the team networked with prominent international and domestic industry leaders. They engaged with global exhibitors such as the Russian and European YTsaurus big data team, led by experts like Pavel Sushin, and were exposed to perspectives from renowned international figures including MySQL creator Michael “Monty” Widenius. The students also participated in high-value technical sessions led by specialists such as Vasundhara Shukla from Neo4j, Malay Hazarika, and AI software engineer Yash Thakare, spanning topics from AI knowledge graphs to scaling open-source solutions. Direct interaction with these experts and organizations like the Linux Professional Institute provided the team with crucial connections and momentum to drive future open-source initiatives on campus.
