The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology, successfully organized a One-Day Hands-on Workshop on “Arduino for Civil Engineers” on 17 July 2026 at the Design & Analysis Lab.
The workshop was conducted with the objective of introducing Civil Engineering students to the fundamentals of Arduino-based embedded systems and their growing applications in modern civil engineering. The programme highlighted the role of smart technologies in infrastructure development, structural health monitoring, environmental sensing, and automation.
The technical sessions were led by Mr. Vinod Kumar P, Assistant Professor, ECE, Mr. Sathyan P, Senior Instructor, ECE, and Mr. Sreejesh R, Teaching Assistant, ECE. The resource persons provided comprehensive training on Arduino hardware, Arduino IDE, basic programming, sensor interfacing, data acquisition, and real-time monitoring systems.
During the hands-on sessions, participants gained practical experience in assembling Arduino circuits, interfacing sensors, writing and uploading programs, and developing simple prototype applications relevant to civil engineering. The workshop enabled students to understand how embedded systems can be integrated into smart infrastructure and monitoring applications.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from Civil Engineering students, who actively engaged in the practical activities and technical discussions. The workshop successfully bridged the gap between civil engineering and emerging digital technologies, encouraging students to explore innovative solutions for sustainable and intelligent infrastructure.
