The Department of Women and Child Development of the Government of Kerala, Ahalia Group of Institutions and Ahalia Women and Children’s Hospital jointly organized a workshop on Combating violence against women. District Legal Services Authority Secretary and Civil Judge Devika Lal inaugurated the program. She mentioned that the reason for not reacting when there is violence is the reason for more violence to occur. Former Deputy Director of Prosecution, Advocate P. Premnath educated students on the legal provisions for combating violence against women, detailing the legal procedures and explaining what constitutes legally recognized acts of violence. Dr. Suresh Babu K.G., Medical Director of Ahalia Group, conveyed his best wishes for the initiative. Bindu Valoor spoke about the red flags in a relationship that one should watch, in order to avoid being trapped in a toxic relationship. About 600 students and teachers participated in this program organized at Ahalia Women and Children’s Hospital Auditorium. Teachers and students of Ahalia Group of Educational Institutions presented a skit and song based on this theme. Mr. Leo Barnard, District Mission Coordinator, Department of Women and Child Development offered the welcome address and Ms. Jyotis Rachel Mathew, Assistant Professor, Ahalia School of Management, offered the vote of thanks. The students of Ahalia School of Management coordinated the event.
