Industrial Visit to Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad

The Department of Civil Engineering successfully conducted an Industrial Visit to Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad on 3rd March 2026. Students from S4, S6, and S8 semesters participated in the visit. The students were accompanied by our Head of the Department, Dr. B. V. Mathew, along with Assistant Professors Mr. Akhil Krishnan M K, Mr. Anurudh R, and Senior Lab Instructor Mr. Suresh Babu.
We started from ASET at 9:00 AM and reached IIT Palakkad by 9:30 AM. The visit began with the Miyawaki Forest project inside the campus under the guidance of Dr. Deepak Jaiswal (Assistant Professor, Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Engineering Centre, Civil Engineering) and Dr. Richa Agnihotri (Assistant Professor, Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Engineering). They, along with PhD scholars, provided detailed insights into the concept, implementation, and environmental significance of the Miyawaki method. Following the site visit, students explored various Civil Engineering laboratory facilities including the Material Testing Lab, Geotechnical Lab, and Transportation Lab. The lab faculty members explained the equipment and ongoing research activities, which was highly informative and beneficial for the students.
After a one-hour lunch break at the IIT Palakkad mess, the visit continued to the Geology Lab and Environmental Lab. The sessions provided valuable exposure to advanced laboratory practices and research infrastructure. The visit concluded at 3:30 PM, and we returned to the college with enriched knowledge and practical exposure. The industrial visit was highly useful in bridging theoretical learning with real-world applications.
