On 17 October, on account of International Day for Eradication of Poverty, Elappully Panchayat Ward 13 in association with Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology organised a meeting with the members of Karamkode Nayadi Colony to chart out an action plan for their comprehensive development. This community is one of the extremely backward communities in the State. Dr. P. R. Sreemahadevan Pillai, Principal, Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology inaugurated the program. Shri. Sunil Kumar, Vice President, Elappully Grama Panchayat presided over the event. Smt. Revathi Babu, President, Elappully Grama Panchayat, Smt. Punyakumari, Vikasana Standing Committee Chairperson, Shri. Saravana Kumar, Welfare Standing Committee Chairman, Shri. Ramesh, Ward member, Smt. Saroja, Block Panchayat Member offered felicitation address. Shri. Ramesh, President, Vijnanawadi Library welcomed the gathering.
Shri. Roshan Sanu, NSS Programme Officer, Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology briefed about the Youth Against Alcohol and Drugs initiative of Ahalia Group. Smt. Bindu Valoor, Manager-Academics Outreach, Ahalia Group moderated the discussion. The members of the Colony pointed out the problems they are facing. A lot of improvement is needed in the areas like education, healthcare, nutrition, jobs etc. Shri. Santhosh, Secretary, Vijnanawadi Library proposed the vote of thanks.
