KTU Sponsored Three Day FDP on Advances in Additive and Subtractive Manufacturing

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology organized a 3-day Faculty Development Programme, sponsored by
APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) on “Advances in Additive and Subtractive Manufacturing” from January 09.01.2023 to 11.01.2023.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. S John Alexis (Professor), Mr. Sandeep Satish (Assistant Professor) & Mr. Jishnoop Jayaprakash (Assistant Professor).
Prof D Prakash welcomed the gathering and briefed about the programme and its importance in the current scenario. He explained the program’s outcome,
gave a brief outline, and requested all participants to enrich their knowledge from this 3-day programme by their effective participation. The programme was inaugurated on 09th Jan 2023 by Mr Ajith Mohan Director – Operations, Bildon Steels India PVT. LTD. He pointed out the importance of
material science for all engineering branches. He then discussed the various manufacturing options available in the field. He appreciated the Department for
taking the initiative for bringing funded programmes to the institution. Dr. P.R. Sreemahadevan Pillai, Principal, of Ahalia School of Engineering and
Technology and Director, Ahalia group of Academic Institutions proposed the presidential address. He highlighted the need to study new technologies related
to material development. He felt that the participants will find this 3-day FDP productive and enrich their knowledge. Mr Vivek Gopi, Assistant Professor,
Department of Mechanical Engineering proposed the vote of thanks. There was a total of 12 sessions and each session was handled by experts from
reputed academic institutions like IITs, NITs and other renowned institutions across the country. The topics handled by the experts include Advances in
Mechanical & Chemical subtractive processes, Advances in Electro-chemical processes, Industrial and Medical application of subtractive processes, Future
scope of Subtractive processes, Material Advancements and requirements in AM processes, “Advances in Thermo – Electrical processes etc. A total of 30 (20
External and 10 Internal)participants from KTU affiliated colleges across Kerala registered for the Faculty Development Program, actively participated in the
programme and all of them were given participation certificate
