KTU Sponsored Three-day FDP on “Future Scope of 5G Communications”

A KTU Sponsored 3-day Faculty Development Programme on Future Scope of 5G Communications during, 18-20, January 2023 organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology. The programme was inaugurated on 18 January 2023 by chief guest Er. A. Kesavan, Past Chairman, IEI Palakkad Centre. The Chief guest gave a valuable insight to Faculty development programs (FDPs) He highlighted the Faculty Development Program is aiming for higher education system in attaining sustainable development and achieving higher growth rates which could be enabled through creation, transmission, and dissemination of knowledge. So to complement the transition and the rapid growth in technical education domain, it is an imperative for the faculties also to be well versed, well trained and updated to be able to deliver what the requirements are.
Prof. Abhijit V had welcomed the gathering and briefed about the various sessions of the FDP. He also pointed out the objectives of the FDP.
Dr. Krishna Kumar Kishor , Vice- Principal, Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology and Executive Director, Ahalia Group, gave the presidential address. He talked Participation in such program would enable faculty members to update their research and latest skills about latest technologies. Dr. V Balamurugan, Co-ordinator of the FDP gave the vote of thanks for the inaugural session. He highlighted that in the recent past, many new technologies have been introduced in the education system to adopt new technologies like 5G Communications. He expressed his special thanks to the organizing committee, teaching and non-teaching staff for their unflinching support and coordination. And also thanked the participants for active participation.
There was a total of 18 sessions. Each session was handled by experts from reputed academic institutions and industries. Various topics of 5G communication were presented. A total of 36 KTU affiliated faculty members across Kerala participated in the programme. The FDP was concluded with valedictory function on 20th January 2023. The Function was presided by Dr. P R Sreemahadevan Pillai, Principal, Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology, Palakkad. He congratulated the organizing team for the successful completion of the FDP. He emphasized that there is huge need for organizing such an event on a regular basis as such kind of training programmes are very essential for the professional development of the teachers. The chief Guest for Valedictory function was Mr. Vijay Nair, CTO Assyst International Pvt. Ltd. Kochi, Kerala. He mentioned that, the importance of 5G Communications in different fields. He has highlighted the need to take collaboration between universities and the industry to the next level by enabling the latter to lead curriculum design and delivery through partnership models like faculty development program and training.
The session was concluded with the vote of thanks by Miss. Vijitha Khan. She highlighted the immense contribution of the Organizing Committee members and experts. She mentioned special thanks to Dr. P.R Sreemahadevan Pillai , Principal , Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology and Director, Ahalia group of Academic Institutions and Dr. Krishna Kumar Kishor , Vice- Principal and Executive Director, Ahalia Group. She also showed his gratitude towards the Ahalia Management and Advosiry Committee members for facilitating the event. She heartily thanked all the speakers who spared their valuable time. She also thanked all the participants who made this event a grand success by participating wholeheartedly.

Outcome of the FDP:

All the sessions were very informative. The discussed areas are of great benefit to the participants as the topics with the latest trends. Participants were educated on the most widely used advance strategies in 5G Communication on Machine Learning areas like Deep learning algorithms, SVM, CNN, Python etc. The participants gained knowledge about the future scope of 5G Communications. This FDP was immensely useful for the beginner level and middle level research scholars. The research scholars can get technical inputs for their research work from the Resource Persons.
The programme was designed to be generic in nature for satisfying the needs of academic institutions and industry personnel field of 5G Communications.
35 eligible participants were distributed with the participant certificates on successful completion of the programme.

The following Feedback was received from the participants:
• 83% of the participants felt that the course content met with their expectations were excellent and 17 % of the participants wrote as very good.
• 97% of the participants opined that the FDP was coordinated as excellent 3% of the participants wrote as very good.
• Participants endorsed the fact that such FDPs should be arranged regularly.
