Visit to Ahalia FM 90.4 MHz

As part of the academic activities of the S5 Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) students, an industrial visit to Ahalia FM 90.4 MHz was organized on 16 September 2026. A total of 50 students participated in the visit. The students were accompanied by Ms. Asha Arvind, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE; Ms. Gayathri P S, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE; and Mr. Sathyan P, Senior Instructor, Department of ECE.

The visit was organized with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to the functioning of an FM radio broadcasting station and to help them relate the theoretical concepts studied in their academic curriculum to their real-world applications in communication systems.

During the visit, the students were introduced to the overall functioning of Ahalia FM 90.4 MHz and the various stages involved in radio broadcasting. They had the opportunity to observe the broadcasting facilities and gain an understanding of how audio content is prepared, processed, and transmitted to listeners.

The staff at the FM station explained the basic workflow involved in radio broadcasting, beginning with the preparation and recording of audio content. The students were also familiarized with various audio mixing, processing, and broadcasting equipment used in the studio. The explanations helped the students understand the importance of audio processing and signal quality in delivering clear and effective radio broadcasts.

The visit also provided valuable insights into the practical implementation of concepts related to frequency modulation, signal processing, transmission systems, and wireless communication. The interaction with the technical staff enabled the students to clarify their doubts and gain a better understanding of the professional and technical aspects of FM broadcasting.

Overall, the industrial visit to Ahalia FM 90.4 MHz was an informative and enriching learning experience for the S5 ECE students. It helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, while providing students with valuable exposure to the field of broadcasting and wireless communication.
