The ASTHRA – Department Association Day & First Anniversary Celebration 2026 of the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Ahalia School of Engineering & Technology, was organized on 15th September 2026 at Visvesvaraya Hall. The programme marked the completion of the first year of ASTHRA and celebrated the learning, innovation, technical activities and achievements of the department and its students.
The programme commenced with a Prayer at 9:15 AM, followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Reshma P K, Assistant Professor, ASET and Faculty Coordinator, ASTHRA. As the Head of the Department-in-Charge, she also addressed the gathering in this capacity as part of the welcome session, highlighting the department’s activities, the journey of ASTHRA during its first year and its role in encouraging student participation, technical learning and innovation.
The welcome session was followed by the Presidential Address by Dr. P. R. Suresh, Principal, ASET. His address highlighted the importance of student associations and encouraged students to actively participate in technical and innovative activities.
The programme continued with the felicitation address by Dr. Rajeev N, Dean Academics, ASET.
The ASTHRA Annual Report 2025–2026 was presented by Ms. Hiba Fathima M, President, ASTHRA, highlighting the major activities, workshops, webinars, technical programmes, student initiatives and achievements conducted during the first year of the association.
A major highlight of the programme was the AIML Laboratory Inauguration, marking an important development for the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and providing students with an enhanced environment for practical learning and technical activities.
The Inaugural Address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr. Koppala Guravaiah, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam. His address provided valuable insights and inspiration to the students in the areas of computer science, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The programme also featured the Department Website initiative, developed by Mr. Sankar, S5 AIML student. The website was developed as a student-led initiative, with its UI design selected through a UI Design Competition conducted under ASTHRA. The selected design was implemented for the department website, showcasing the creativity, technical skills and initiative of the students.
The Chief Guest was subsequently honoured as part of the celebration, followed by the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Vithul M, Secretary, ASTHRA.
Following the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Guest also delivered a one-hour technical talk for the students, providing valuable insights into emerging technologies and encouraging students to enhance their technical knowledge and skills.
As part of the ASTHRA Department Association Day activities, Technical and Interactive Events were conducted on 16th September 2026 from 1:00 PM onwards. The events provided students with opportunities to showcase their technical skills, explore new areas of learning and participate in engaging technical activities under the theme “Show Your Skills, Build New Ones.”
The ASTHRA First Anniversary Celebration thus served as a meaningful occasion to reflect on the association’s first year of activities and to celebrate technical learning, creativity, innovation, student participation and leadership within the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning.
