FDP on ‘Teaching and Learning – The Online Approach’

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, organized an one dya faculty development programme on “Teaching and Learning – An Online Approach”, for the faculty members of ASET and other institutions. The progrmame was organized in association with Ahalia Palakkad ISTE Chapter and conducted through google meet platform on 01-08-2020 from 03.00 pm to 06.00 pm. The details of the sessions held were as follows:

Session 1: Effective Online Teaching Dr. P. R. Sreemahadevan Pillai, Dean, University of Calicut and Director, Ahalia Group  Academic Institutions handled the session on the topic “Effective Online Teaching”. In the lecture, the need for change towards online education, teaching and most importantly the pedagogy technique termed Andragogy was dealt in detail. In addition, the techniques to conduct assessments and assignments through online were also discussed.

Session 2: Responsive Pedagogy for Professional Classroom

Pedagogy, the science of instruction, its principle, and significance are taught to the participants by Dr. Sankaranayana Paleeri, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department, Department of Social Sciences Education, NSS Training College, Ottapalam. He discussed the various types of intelligence and insisted the teachers to “Start Teaching the Students and Stop Teaching the Subjects”. He advised the faculty members to be partial to the students based on the students capability.

Session 3: Digital Tools for Modern Teaching Learning

Internet makes human life sophisticated. Dr. S. Gunasekaran, Porf. & Head, Dept. of CSE, ASET delivered hands on training on digital tools for modern teaching learning via the internet. He discussed the various tools viz. google tools and digital whiteboard. He emphasized the transformation in education industry as Education 5.0. He also discussed the new education policies of the government.

250+ participants registered and attended the programme, from various corners of the country. Participants submitted their feedback through online. Resource persons and the organizing team acknowledged the feedback of the participants. The programme was organized by the team headed by Dr. Murugananth Gopal Raj, Prof.  & Head, assisted by Mr. A. Manickavasagam, Assistant Professor, EEE Department. Student’s team comprised of Ms. Ms. Saranya & Ms. Bhadra Mahesh and Ms. Nivedha Menon S6 EEE.
