Introduction
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering conducted a one-day hands-on workshop titled “Full Stack Mobile App Development (Android + Firebase + Python + MongoDB)” on 18-02-2026 and 19-02-2026. This comprehensive workshop was designed to provide students with practical experience in modern mobile application development, covering the entire technology stack from frontend Android development to backend databases.
The session aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world implementation. Students gained hands-on experience with Android Studio, Firebase services, Python backend development, and MongoDB database management. The workshop emphasized practical skills that are highly relevant in today’s job market.
The workshop also emphasized analytical thinking, debugging skills, and understanding of full-stack architecture, thereby equipping students with industry-relevant competencies essential for developing production-ready mobile applications.
Resource Person
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Anees Nassar, Mobile Application Senior Developer/AI Architect, Accenture, Bangalore. The resource person brought extensive industry experience in mobile application development and backend architecture, having worked on numerous production applications.
The session covered comprehensive topics ranging from Android UI design and Firebase integration to Python-based API development and MongoDB database operations, with real-world examples and best practices.
Conveners & Organizers
● Convener: Dr. S. Gunasekaran, HoD-CSE
● Organizer: Ms. Deepthy P S, AP-CSE
Participants
● 18th February 2026: S4 CSE-A students
● 19th February 2026: S4 CSE-B students
Workshop Highlights
● Hands-on Android Studio project creation and UI design
● Real-time Firebase Authentication and Database integration
● Python backend development fundamentals
● MongoDB database operations and cloud deployment
● Understanding full-stack architecture (Android → API → Database)
The workshop featured highly interactive hands-on sessions where students actively developed Android applications from scratch. They learned to design user interfaces, implement button click listeners, and create responsive mobile experiences.
The Firebase integration session proved particularly valuable, as students learned how to implement authentication systems and store/retrieve data in real-time without managing traditional backend servers. This backend-as-a-service approach demonstrated modern development practices.
The students interacted very well throughout the workshop. They actively participated in discussions, asked insightful questions about scalability and performance, and successfully completed all the hands-on exercises. The enthusiasm was especially evident during the MongoDB session where students understood how mobile apps connect to scalable databases.
