The Faculty Development program started on 15th February 2023, 09:00 am at Seminar Hall-I, Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology. There were ten external participants from different KTU affiliated colleges and around twenty internal participants. The FDP was inaugurated by Dr. Rammohan, Director, FCRI, Govt. of India.
The three-day faculty development program on “ADVANCED GRAPH THEORY AND ITS APPLICATIONS” was sponsored by the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and organized by the Department of Science and Humanities at Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology. This FDP’s objective was to give researchers and academicians from various KTU-affiliated institutions with the most recent information on advanced graph theory.
DAY 1 ( 15 February 2023)
Dr. Rammohan, Director, FCRI, Government of India, inaugurated the FDP on February 15, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in Seminar Hall-I, Ahalia School of Engineering and TTechnology Palakkad. Around twenty internal participants and ten external participants from various KTU affiliated colleges attended the FDP. Resource persons from IIT and other reputable institutions handled the sessions.
Session-1(09:30 am – 11:00 am)
Dr. Deepak Rajendraprasad, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT, Palakkd, led the session. He delivered a speech on “Your connections Determine Your rank- How Google Sorts its Search hits” He spoke about web graphs and several intriguing case studies in his talk.
Session-2(11:15 am – 12:45pm)
Dr. Aparna Lakshmanan S, Associate Professor, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, was the session’s facilitator. She presented a lecture on “Graph Labeling Problems” in which she talked about Leech Graphs and mentioned some of the unresolved issues surrounding the subject.
Session-3(01:30 pm – 03:00pm)
The session was hanled by Dr Aparna Lakshmanan S, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi. She delivered the lecture on “ Two conjecture’s related to Graph parameters” where she discussed triangular independence number, Tuza’s conjecture, triangle- three color- able Graphs and mentioned some of the open problems
Session-4(03:15 pm – 04:45pm)
The session was hanled by Dr S Gunasekaran, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology. He gave a lecture on “ Introduction to R programming and Data analytics” where he talked about how to do graphs using R programming and Graph theory in data analytics.
DAY 2 ( 16 February 2023 )
Session-1 (09:30 am – 11:00 am)
The session was handled by Dr Somasundaram K, Associate Professor, Depart- ment of Mathematics, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore. He gave a lecture on “Graph Theory and Circuit Design” where he discussed about multi core proces- sors and its associated graph representations.
Session-2 (11:15 am – 12:45pm)
The session was moderated by Dr Somasundaram K, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore. He gave the lecture on“ Graph Analytics” where he discussed Graph Analytics in data science and its significance in recent recent research area.
Session-3 (01:30 pm – 03:00pm)
The session was hanled by Dr Jasine Babu, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT, Palakkad. She adressed the participants on “Tracking hardness Approximation and Parameterization” where she expanded on Linear Programming, Problem and Integer Linear Programming and Problem in graph theory & its application.
Session-4 (03:15 pm – 04:45pm)
The session was hanled by Prof. Abhijith V, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Ahalia School of Engineering and Tech- nology. He gave a lecture on “ Introduction to Python programming Language” where he introduced the participants to Python Programming Language.
DAY 3 ( 17 February 2023 )
Session-1(09:30 am – 11:00 am), Session-2(11:15 am – 12:45pm)
The session was handled by Dr Sudev Naduvath, Associate Professor, Depart- ment of Mathematics, Christ University, Bengaluru. He delivered the lecture on “Graph Theory using Python ( Network package)” where he discussed about usage of Net- workx tool in Graph theory.
Session-3 (01:30 pm – 03:00pm)
The session was hanled by Dr Krithika Ramaswamy, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT, Palakkad. She lectured the audience on “Order in Chaos: An Introduction to Ramsey Theory” where she deliberat- ed on computing Ramsey numbers and classical examples.
Session-4 (03:15 pm – 04:45pm)
The Lab Practical session was engaged by Dr Binoy Balan K, Professor, De- partment of Science and Humanities, Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology. The participants received hands on training on Python tool used in graph theory. The session was concluded by Valedictory function
