Ahalia School of Engineering Technology hosted a significant event on October 26, 2024, marking a new era in electrical safety education and research. The event witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Federation of Engineers for Electrical Safety (NFE) and ASET, along with the inauguration of India’s first NFE Students Chapter at ASET.
Dr. Suresh P.R., Principal of ASET, extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries, faculty, and students. He highlighted the importance of electrical safety and the role of NFE in promoting awareness and best practices. Shri. S. Gopakumar, President of NFE, delivered the presidential address. He emphasized the need for a strong foundation in electrical safety, especially among young engineers. He also outlined the objectives of the NFE Students Chapter and its potential to contribute to the field.
Shri. K. Krishnankutty. MLA, the Honorable Minister for Electricity, Kerala, delivered the inaugural address. He commended the efforts of NFE and ASET in promoting electrical safety and highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring safe and reliable electrical infrastructure. A significant milestone was achieved with the signing of the MoU between NFE and ASET. The MoU aims to foster collaboration in areas such as research, training, and capacity building in electrical safety and there after The Minister released a Malayalam book on electrical safety, making vital information accessible to a wider audience.
Shri. S. Gopakumar, NFE President, distributed membership certificates to the newly inducted members of the NFE Students Chapter and the office bearers of the NFE Students Chapter took the oath, pledging to uphold the values and objectives of the organization.
Shri. Santhosh, Chief Electrical Inspector, Government of Kerala: In his felicitation speech, he emphasized the crucial role of electrical safety in modern society. He applauded the efforts of NFE and ASET in promoting awareness and best practices. He highlighted the need for continuous learning and skill development to meet the evolving challenges in the field of electrical engineering. Dr. Krishna Kumar Kishor, Vice Principal of ASET and Executive Director of Ahalia Group: Dr. Kishor expressed his gratitude for the partnership with NFE. He emphasized the importance of industry-academia collaborations in addressing real-world challenges. He assured that ASET would continue to provide a conducive environment for students to learn and innovate. Shri. Nitin Devaraj, Joint Director from Factories and Boilers: Mr. Devaraj highlighted the regulatory framework for electrical safety and the role of inspection agencies. He emphasized the need for compliance with safety standards to prevent accidents and fatalities. Shri. Anoop Ravindran, represented the Energy management Centre, Trivandrum and felicitated the gathering. Shri. Rajan Menon, President of NFE, Kerala Chapter, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the attendees and participants.
Following the inauguration, the students and participants were trained on the aspects of electrical safety by Shri. Gopakumar, and Shri Krish Theobald. In continuation, M/s. Sonel Instruemnts, demonstrated the various safety trainer kits. The event marked a significant step towards enhancing electrical safety awareness and practices in India. The partnership between NFE and ASET is expected to yield fruitful results in the years to come. The NFE Students Chapter at ASET will play a crucial role in nurturing young talent and fostering innovation in the field of electrical engineering. Finally, Dr. G. Murugananth, Professor and Head of Department honored the resources persons, and Dr. Pradip C, concluded the training session, by proposing the vote of thanks.
