A comprehensive orientation program on “Earthing System and Codes of Earthing” was successfully conducted on 20th November 2024, jointly organized by the NFE Kerala Chapter and the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology. The program aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of EEE faculty members regarding the critical aspects of earthing systems and their adherence to relevant codes and standards. The orientation program was well-received by the faculty members. Dr. Pradip C, Professor, EEE Dept., extended a warm welcome to all participants and highlighted the importance of the topic. Edison JP, Secretary of NFE Kerala Chapter, delivered an in-depth presentation on Fundamental concepts of earthing systems, types of earthing systems viz., TN-S, TN-C-S, TT, and IT systems, In addition, the components of earthing systems (earth electrodes, earth pits, earth conductors), Indian Standard Code of Practice for Earthing (IS 3043), Practical applications and case studies Latest trends and advancements in earthing technologies were discussed.
The technical presentation by Edison JP was informative and engaging, providing valuable insights into the intricacies of earthing systems. The interactive session further enhanced the learning experience. Dr. Murugananth G, Head of the Department of EEE, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person, organizers, and participants for their contributions to the success of the program.
