The Bridge Course on Mathematics for Machine Learning was successfully conducted on 7th and 8th July 2026 for the S3 students of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML). The primary objective of the programme was to strengthen the students’ mathematical foundation, enabling them to better understand the fundamental concepts of Machine Learning and its practical applications.
The bridge course was organized in the S3 AIML Classroom and featured sessions on essential mathematical topics, including Matrices and their Applications in AI/ML, Linear Regression, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Graph Adjacency Matrices, and Markov Transition Matrices. Special emphasis was given to demonstrating the relevance of these concepts in Machine Learning through practical examples and problem-solving exercises. One of the key sessions, titled “Matrices in AI/ML – Solved Examples,” illustrated the role of matrix operations in neural networks, eigenvalue-based stability analysis, recommender systems, and other AI applications.
The programme was handled by eminent faculty members from the Department of Science and Humanities, namely Dr. Binoy Balan K., Professor & Head, Department of Science and Humanities, along with Ms. Prabha R., Ms. Sangeetha P. S., Ms. Preeja V., and Ms. Sunitha K. G., Assistant Professors. Their expertise and interactive teaching methodology enabled students to understand complex mathematical concepts with ease through lectures, worked examples, discussions, and problem-solving sessions.
Students actively participated throughout the programme by engaging in discussions, solving numerical problems, and clarifying their doubts. The sessions effectively bridged the gap between theoretical mathematics and its practical application in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, thereby enhancing students’ confidence in approaching core Machine Learning topics.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Sunder V., Head of the Department, AI&ML, whose encouragement and support contributed significantly to the successful organization of the event. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Reshma P. K., Assistant Professor, Department of AI&ML, who was responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and smooth execution of the bridge course.
Overall, the Bridge Course on Mathematics for Machine Learning achieved its intended objectives by providing students with a strong mathematical foundation essential for their upcoming Machine Learning courses. The enthusiastic participation of the students, combined with the dedicated efforts of the resource persons and organizers, made the programme a meaningful and successful academic initiative.
